Student Membership Application

Before submitting your application, please read more about membership in the Inn and review our meeting dates for the upcoming year. Before you apply, please review the following:

Attendance at Inn meetings is mandatory. Members are allowed to miss only one meeting per year, provided it is not the meeting where their group presents. If you are unable to attend a meeting, you are required to send a substitute in your place.
Outside of regular Inn meetings, there will be opportunities for students to engage with a mentor. This includes observing court events, lunch, coffee, etc. Students should make themselves available and expect to participate in at least one activity between Inn meetings.
All prospective members should reserve the evening of September 26, 2024 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. (tentative date) for new member orientation and welcome reception.
If accepted to the Inn, law student dues is $200 a year. This fee includes your National Inn dues and meals. A limited number of scholarships are available to defray up to 50% of the cost. Dues is due by check or money order at or before new member orientation and is non-refundable.
Active participation and professionalism are key components of the American Inns of Court. You should not submit an application unless you are able to commit to the above. For more information about membership, contact our membership chair.

Why do you want to become a member of the Bennett Inn of Court?

Describe at least two program topics/ideas for the Bennett Inn of Court meetings that, if selected, you would help to organize.

The ideal program would be approximately 1-1 ½ hours long and should address a cutting-edge area of law and/or legal technology. Programs may include keynote speakers, interactive activities, hands-on demonstrations of useful technology, etc.

Mentorship is an important component of Inn membership. What are your legal interests and how can members of the legal community assist in your professional development?

Service to the community is critical to the vitality of the legal profession. What activity would you propose organizing which would accomplish both internal teambuilding among members, as well as promote community engagement more broadly?

If accepted to the Inn, law student dues is $200 a year. A limited number of scholarships are available to defray up to 50% of the cost if payment of the full dues would present a barrier to joining. Upon request, additional scholarship funds may be available.

Participation Requirement

Attendance at meetings is mandatory. Meetings start at 5:30 p.m. and typically end by 8:00 p.m. Attendance is especially important for student members, whose membership is subsidized by the attorney members of the Inn. Beyond meetings, there are additional activities which include mentorship opportunities and community events. Our policy is to allow members to miss one meeting per year, provided it is not the meeting where their group presents and they can send a substitute. Before submitting your application, please review our schedule to confirm you will be able to materially participate in the Inn.
